- I tried this on my Penril on which I was having similar problems (I
- mentioned this in an earlier article). And voila! eet eez feexed!
- Although the idea of using my nice fancy modem with error correction
- and compression turned off is a tad annoying. If this hardware error
- correction is turned off, does this mean downloads and such will
- be fraught with bad bytes? i.e. if there is no software error
- correction? What is the alternative in hardware error correction
- to V.42?
